Been dealing with some weird stuff in my life where I get this aching feeling every time I'm around my family because I know that this time next year, I'll be in college. I've been thankful for the people in my life and the things that I have more than ever (not just because Thanksgiving was last week), but because not everything lasts forever. Soon these will all just be memories, and all I want to do is hold onto these times as tightly as possible.
Which leads me to this conclusion: I don't want to grow up.

Have you ever felt this way?

This outfit combo is one of my favorite on-the-go looks. There's really nothing more comfy than throwing on a sweater dress, boots, and a scarf to brave the chilliest weather in downtown Fayetteville. Now that Thanksgiving is over, the holiday I am looking forward to the most is Christmas. It's time to start decorating the Lee household with festive lights and ornaments on the Christmas tree. So stoked.

What are you most looking forward to this winter?

Princeton Model Congress: Part 2

The week spent at PMC was such a dream. Waking up in a hotel every mornings, going downstairs dressed in blazers, suits, and heels in the lobby to grab Starbucks coffee for breakfast, and then attending our conference committees in meeting rooms provided within the hotel was such a thrilling experience. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my first visit to the Capitol.

Giving Thanks

Sometimes, when life throws you a curveball, it's best to take a deep breath and...relax. I am always busy whether it's school-related, home-related or blog-related. Which is why I thought it was a pleasant idea to jot down a list of a few things like I did in this post, and be thankful for what I have.
Thanksgiving is tomorrow, after all.
Last year's Thanksgiving posts:
{ here :: here :: here }

1. When I buy a pair of shoes that I've always wanted for a less expensive price.
2. When I only have two days of school this week.
3.When I do well on a test that I worked so hard for.
4. When I purchase a sequin collared Vera Wang holiday dress.
5. When I get to go to D.C. for Thanksgiving.
6. When I get to spend Thanksgiving with my family.
7. When I win Best Dressed for my senior superlative.

P.S. My Princeton Model Congress: Part 2 will be my next post...so stay tuned!

What are you thankful for this year?

Princeton Model Congress: Part 1

This past weekend, I spent my time in D.C. at Princeton Model Congress where high schools from all over the U.S. were offered the opportunity to simulate the experience of serving in Congress, covering various topics of our nation, passing bills, and meeting new people. The hotel that held the conference was right down the street from Capitol Hill. My AP Government & Politics class took a trip to the White House, Library of Congress, Capitol Hill, and Chinatown on our free time. Engaging in this beautiful city made me realize just how much I adore D.C. and the exquisite attractions it has to offer. I spent my mornings at the Starbucks cafe located inside the Hyatt Hotel before committee conferences started. All in all, it was truly a surreal experience for me. It felt almost like a sneak preview of my college life starting up next fall.

Put a Sock in It

It's easy to fall into a rut where you don't feel like completing any work whatsoever, and then the whole weekend goes by and you ask yourself: "What did I accomplish this weekend?"
Besides googling 'how to pull yourself out of a rut' and repeatedly looking through my 'motivational quotes' board on Pinterest, I have to say that the only thing successful here is my sock bun. For the longest time I have been wanting to pull off the sock bun look, but never believed it was a hairstyle that I could pull off. I had myself pretty convinced until one day, I came across a tutorial that told me to turn a long sock into a donut, which I found rather odd at first, and then voilà. There it was.
The first few times, since my hair is so thick, the bun was bigger than my head, and I will never forget the amusing sight. So I guess my little story comes with a quick lesson: Never give up because you never know until you try.

Sometimes, you can be your own inspiration. Point proven.

P.S. I'll be in DC for the rest of the week until Sunday night for Princeton Model Congress (PMC) for my AP Government class! I'll be uploading pics from Washington D.C., so follow me!

Starbucks Stroll

Fact: chilly, windy mornings are made better with a hot Starbucks caramel macchiato. It's been freezing in Fayetteville this past week and it feels as though we have transitioned from summer to winter. I pieced together my favorite leather jacket with a vintage Pierre Balmain scarf and my old peter-pan collared floral dress which I last wore {here}. With temperature plummeting like our stock market lately, I bet it will actually snow this year. I'm no meteorologist, but I certainly know 30° weather when I feel it.

Layer Up

With weather remaining monotonously in the 40s and 50s this week, it goes without say that my attire will consist of coats, scarves, and boots. Since I am outside as much as I am inside, I am layering up as much as possible. Honestly, if it's supposed to be this cold, it should snow.
And yes, I'm frankly aware that it's not even Thanksgiving yet.
