Spring Layers

Today marks the first day of Spring Break 2013.
And unlike last year, it has gotten off to a chilly start. As you can see, I am already layered in a sweater, a blazer, and a collared polka-dotted dress. Oh heyyy spring layering.

You probably remember me wearing this crème de la crème sweater last in this post {here}. I can't believe January was the last time I wore it. Time flies...too fast.

There's something so appealing about being able to accomplish a new hairstyle. I find a lot of my inspiration from my Hair Inspiration Pinterest Board (check it out!). Some of them are pretty tricky, and I might have given up too soon throughout the steps, but since I have long hair, this one turned out pretty well. I felt pretty inspired by Ashley Murphy from Golden Divine's blog with her bohemian braid and decided to try it out myself. What do you think?

Dot Dot Dot

The other week, the weather finally started looking up.
After the many dreary, rainy days I've been experiencing in Fayetteville, NC, I was ecstatic to step outside and enjoy the fresh air. I even think the sun made an appearance towards the afternoon.
I decided to wear my Prabal Gurung for Target wedge sandals with cuffed denims and a flowy, dotted blouse for a day out. With Starbucks coffee to go. Let's not forget that.

P.S. Thank you City Glam for sending me this orange bracelet! Check out City Glam's darling online store. I'm wearing the orange diamonds bangle bracelet which is now available!

Burrrrberry

It may be Spring, but this past weekend was too chilly. In fact, it felt like the transition to Spring never happened. Yesterday was a gloomy day without a sun in sight. I decided to put on my favorite bow gloves one last time before putting them in my drawers until next fall.
I'm looking forward to this week actually. School is dismissed early on Thursday afternoon for Spring Break and I couldn't be any happier.

P.S. No weekend is complete without a coffee to go.

Hello Spring

I celebrated the first day of Spring with a bouquet of sunflowers and a beautiful, flowing turquoise dress that Dressestylist.com sent to me a few weeks ago. Even though it's safe to call it Spring, the weather has been chillier than ever. I was actually freezing during this shoot! I hardly own any turquoise in my closet, so you can bet I was excited to finally take photos in this dress. This dress is also made to order with custom measurements for the perfect fit.
I used to have an obsession with one-shoulder dresses during my middle-school years, and never actually bought one. So thanks again Dressestylist for this beautiful dress!

For the Love of Plaid

It goes without saying that this is my favorite plaid button-down.
And I'm not just saying that because I only have three. It mainly has to do with the fact that it's a flannel plaid button-down, and that simply changes everything. It keeps me warm during the cold months and...it's just the amount of fabric to wear on a light, cool day. Nine times out of ten, I instill "preppy" with plaid, so it was necessary to add a pearl necklace to complete the look.

Don't Rain on My Parade

It's so easy to get caught up in irrelevant situations. They're simply distractions that are holding us back from our priorities. And for me, now is not the time. I couldn't find a better place to fit this quote than here: "Be very careful about what you think. Your thoughts run your life." With my high school years slowly and surely coming to an end, I should be finishing strong. Not slacking off.
The thing that I love about the weekend is, it gives us another chance to turn a bad week around. A brand new day, a brand new week. This week, I'll strive harder.
Here's to a week of no distractions! Who's with me?

Black Velvet

Finding this vintage velvet skirt hidden in the back of my mom's closet was a total win. I swear, the entire day, I was distracted by the fuzzy, soft, velvet touch of the skirt. Does anyone else that owns anything velvet know what I'm talking about?
Daylight Savings time is seriously a killer. I feel like I have no time after I come home from school nowadays. Time seems to fly back every second I turn, and lately, I've been only getting 4 hours of sleep a day. Hopefully, this weekend I will catch up on sleeping. Here's to another weekend of relaxation.

P.S. You've probably seen this hairstyle on Instagram if you're following me! { @bygracelee }
